What is the Muay-Thaï?


Another names: Thaï Boxing.

Origin: Thailandia.

There are data that, in 1411 somebody already practiced a rudimentary Muay-Thaï style. The fights celebrated into a circle drawn on the ground, using a shell like a box and a hand's dressing like the only protection.

Considered like a martial art, the BOXING OF THE 8 BLOWS (two elbows, two knees, two legs, two fists) is practiced for more than 100,000 professionals in Thailand.

The most famous champions are: mythical SAMAT PAYAKAROOM, PUD PAT NOÏ, KRONSAK, DIESEL ENGINE NOÏ, ROB KAMAN and RAMON DEKKER.

Rules: Are authorized the punches and kicks over the waist, low-kicks, kneeds, nudges, slides and projections.

In the amateur category there are five-round fight of 2 minutes each one and in the professional category there ara a maximum of five-round fight of 3 minutes each one. There are two minutes between rounds like half time.

Clothing: Shorts, box, boxing gloves and buccal.

Comment: It's the only combat system that has a ceremonial dance before the fight named Ram May and the only one that the fight is celebrated with music.
